Medieval Times, A Dinner Show With Knightly Entertainment
You can enjoy yourself day and night when you vacation in Orlando. The theme parks and other attractions are quite engaging during the day, but at night the fun continues with a variety of entertainment possibilities. Dinner shows of all types are extremely popular here, and one of the most spectacular of all is Medieval Times.
Medieval Times is an 11th Century-style dinner that is accompanied by a tournament in which knights, representing different regions of Spain, battle while cheered on by the diners.
Medieval Times has several locations in the U.S. but their flagship center is in Kissimmee, Florida. While Medieval Times has been entertaining diners in Florida since 1983, the concept of providing an 11th Century dinner-tournament was actually launched in Spain in 1973. In Spain, the equestrian and tournament activities were done in outdoor locations, but the Medieval Times castles currently operating in the USA are strictly indoor climate-controlled facilities.
The plot of the show is simple. You, the diners, are royal guests of King Philippe and his daughter-in-law, Princess Leonore, who present you with a four-course feast while you enjoy the tournament below
The castle in Kissimmee seats more than 1000 guests and is surrounded by a medieval village which you can tour before the show. The village features implements and tools of the middle ages including the torture devices of the era. In fact, there is a complete medieval torture museum.
When you come in for your meal you will be seated in sections named for regions of Medieval Spain and encouraged to cheer for the Knight representing the region which you are sitting in.
You will be served by waiters and waitresses dressed as serfs and wenches, and the meal is 11th Century fare. The current menu includes: garlic bread, tomato bisque soup, roasted chicken, spare rib, herb-basted potatoes, pastry, coffee and two rounds of beverages. A full-service bar is also available for adult guests. Vegetarian meals are available upon request.
The vegetarian meal includes tomato bisque soup, garlic bread, large Portobello mushroom cap stuffed with whole grain, rice and bean blend, large skewer of roasted vegetables, hummus with pita chips, pastry of the castle and two rounds of select beverages. If you opt for the vegetarian meal you should advise your server of special meal requests once you are seated at your table.
At Medieval Times they are striving for authenticity, and in the middle ages there was no silverware, so at this dinner show you have to eat with your hands!
In case you are wondering about the entertainment, you will be treated to two hours of jousting, swordsmanship, hand-to-hand combat, displays of horsemanship and falconry, all of it woven into a story set in medieval Spain.
If you want to take in this feasting and fun during your trip to Orlando, or at another location, you should sign up in advance as their facilities are often booked out. You can book your reservation at the Medieval Times website or call them at 1-866-543-9637

The Full Swing Golf Way: Pioneering Golf Simulator Company Makes Indoor Golf More Relevant In Tough Times
ORLANDO, FL–(Marketwire – February 8, 2010) - Full Swing Golf, manufacturer and distributor of premium golf simulators, has been busy during this downturn in the economy. When many companies are struggling to keep the numbers out of the red, Full Swing actually increased their research and development, forged new relationships, and created new ways to bring indoor golfto more people around the world.
Enter the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show, held annually in the Orange County Convention Center, just across the freeway from Walt Disney World. Arguably the world’s premier golf trade show, every facet of the golf industry is showcased during the 3 day event — from GPS guided golf carts to the latest in golf range tee design. Full Swing Golf used this occasion to bring its entire family of employees, international distributors, and partners together to discuss their one common vision… that utilizing an indoor golf simulator is a great way to grow the game of golf. As the dialogue ensued between the various representatives from the Americas, Asia, and Europe, one fact became abundantly clear — that the massive booth in which they were conversing was a testament to the seriousness of their purpose.
Upon entering the 4400 square foot space, it had the feeling of an interactive mall, with simulator after simulator lining a corridor that lead to a 40 foot long mobile clubhouse. In each direction was a bay with the latest in virtual golf innovations. The first bay, a custom designed home theater-style simulator, entertained an emphatic crowd that cheered on several Long Drive competitors as they attempted to out distance one another. Another golf simulator, facing the main thoroughfare, was home to a pair of innovations developed over the past year by the company that drove home the new reality of virtual golf. A single camera, designed to directly measure the ballistic spin of the golf ball, adds crucial exact measurements to complex algorithms designed to control the flight of a virtual golf ball. Translation… Golfers were working the ball, mimicking real-life outdoor shots with acceptance on their faces as they stepped out of the simulator.
The other showcased feature in this bay was a bit hard to comprehend at first, seeming to defy the laws of physics. It’s called the Bounceless Pass Thru Screen. The real ball is struck and it continues to the screen, but instead of bouncing off of it, it passes directly through the screen and on to the other side — without disturbing the beautiful course.
“The Pass Thru Screen is a patented item that is groundbreaking. As your ball hits the screen, it goes through and basically just disappears. It really enhances the indoor (golf) experience,” says Brian Arnold, President of Full Swing Golf.
Traveling through the bustling exhibit to the other end were a couple of impressive new products that are suited for the traveling golfer, entrepreneurs, PGA Professionals, or corporate hospitality. The Newport Portable Simulator is a compact simulator solution that folds up into the size of a large suitcase. Weighing a mere 175 pounds, it can be set up in under 30 minutes. Among some of the impressive features were a large screen, stunning course graphics, and ball flight accuracy that seemed to please every golfer that stepped on for a test drive. The back end of the booth boasted a 40 foot mobile clubhouse on wheels with a simulator built into the side. Franchising opportunities for this unique traveling golf club were being advertised, as a long line of golfers stepped in and took a shot at winning a free Newport Simulator in a closest-to-the-hole competition. The winner knocked a golf ball 9″ from the hole on the second day of the show.
Full Swing Golf is making an effort to drive indoor golf to a wider range of people around the world. By developing innovative technologies, more accessibility, and advancements in the overall realness of the sport, the game of golf can only prosper from a new generation of enthusiasts who embrace what Full Swing is delivering.

We are going through a time of economic cutbacks and hardship, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a good vacation. If you know how to get bargain accommodations and makes a sensible choice of attractions and amusements, then it is possible for you to enjoy a vacation in Orlando, Florida even in this period of economic downturn. I would like to show you how to do it.
The first place to start your preparation is in the area of accommodations. Hotel living coupled with continuous restaurant eating can be expensive. Fortunately you have other alternatives if you are visiting Orlando. During the past ten years there has been boom in the offering of vacation homes and condos for rent to vacationers. So, instead of looking for hotel rooms for your family, it would be wiser to search for a vacation rental home. You will not only get lower per person accommodation costs, but you can save money by preparing some of your meals in your own kitchen.
How much can you save? Let’s take a look at a few examples. Suppose you are traveling with your whole family (spouse, two kids, and one cousin!) you can get a luxurious three bedroom rental home for as low as $115 per night. This is the price that prevails in the low period, but even in the peak periods (Christmas, New Years) the rate is no more than $135 per night. If you are traveling with five people then the per-person per night rate ranges from $23 to $27. If you choose a two bedroom condo, then you can save even more.
Alternatively, if you travel with two families then you can get even bigger per-person savings on your accommodations.
Now if you think that for this price you will be getting a bare bungalow, then you are dead wrong. The rental homes are fully equipped. You get a fully furnished home, with a well equipped kitchen, central heating and air conditioning, either a private pool or a community pool, plus home entertainment systems (DVD) and sometimes even game rooms.
The homes are located in resort communities near to Disney World, Universal Studios and the other famous attractions of the Orlando area. This close location means that you can prepare many of your meals at “home” and then go out to enjoy the sights of Orlando.
Once you have made a big savings on accommodations and meals you can keep your budget low. However, if you are a bit creative with your choice of attractions you can also make other savings. There are beautiful state parks in the Orlando vicinity which provide you with opportunities to enjoy yourself with swimming, boating, fishing, picnicking and hiking at prices that will give you a break from the theme parks. A good park to try is the Wekiwa Springs State Park located only twenty minutes from Orlando.
If you love gardening and flowers take a stroll through the Leu Gardens in Orlando, and view the magnificent rose and camellia collections there. Mix these low cost attractions with some visits to the must-see, but costlier theme parks, and you be able to stay within your budget.
So, don’t cancel your vacation plans, but learn how to stretch your vacation budget to do more with less.
