STS-135 Space Shuttle Atlantis July 08 2011 Launch – Space View Park
An estimated one million spectators converged upon the area around Kennedy Space Center to witness the final shuttle launch of the storied American shuttle program. I made an all-night drive on Wednesday evening, and arrived at Space View Park to find hundreds of people already there and claiming their spot to view and/or shoot the launch. My friends Brian and Bonnie were among the earlier arrivals and saved me a spot in front. Collectively, we slept in tents, vehicles, lawn chairs and on the ground, just to make sure we did not miss this historic event. All of Thursday was consumed by lightning storms and constant rain. Umbrellas, ponchos, rain suits, wet clothes and wrinkled fingers were the norm. NASA was giving only a 30% chance that Atlantis would lift off the next day at the scheduled time. But, fortune smiled. As Friday’s dawn gave way to morning time, a break in the weather opened the launch opportunity window we needed. Atlantis roared into the overcast sky on a silky smooth trajectory. I feel privileged to have been there to experience the beginning of the last chapter in space shuttle history.

Jurassic Park: The Ride (Complete Ride Experience) Universal Studios Hollywood USH.
The Jurassic Park River Adventure is a water-based amusement ride that is based on Steven Spielberg’s hit film Jurassic Park. The Hollywood incarnation, called Jurassic Park: The Ride, was actually researched and built while the Jurassic Park film was still in its production phase. It opened first at Universal Studios Hollywood as Jurassic Park: The Ride on June 21, 1996. A copy of the ride, called the Jurassic Park River Adventure, was later built at Islands of Adventure at the Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida in 1999. A third copy of the ride is also featured at Universal Studios Japan. There is little difference between the three rides, although the Hollywood version is slightly longer and considered to have the most show elements, and the Japan version was built as a mirror image of both the Hollywood and Orlando versions. A river rapids version of the attraction, which will be entitled the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, is planned for both Universal Studios Singapore in 2010, and Universal Studios Dubailand in 2012. Among the the guests in attendance at the ride’s grand opening celebration in 1996 were film cast members Jeff Goldblum, Ariana Richards, and Joseph Mazzello. Steven Spielberg also attended the opening, but requested that he be let off of the attraction before the 85-foot drop (he apparently makes this request every time he rides the attraction). Universal Orlando Resort, and Warner Bros. today revealed first-ever details about the incredible scope of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Universal also announced that the highly anticipated land will open next year.
