Stock Footage of Goddard Space Flight Center and Headquarters

Produced for Century Teleproductions in Boston, MA, this video is a camera master showing various views, with natural sound, of the space flight center during the late spring. This finished footage is used in an interactive laser disc presentation that is used at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center.

External tank for final shuttle flight STS-134 rolls out of Michoud factory

NASA and Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company held a ceremony on Thursday, July 8, at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. The event pays tribute to the external tank rollout for the last space shuttle flight and commemorates tank deliveries for 134 shuttle launches. The last external tank, designated ET-138, will travel on a wheeled transporter one mile to the Michoud barge dock. It will be accompanied by the Storyville Stompers, a traditional area brass band, and hundreds of handkerchief-waving employees. The tank will travel on a 900-mile sea journey to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where it will support shuttle Endeavour’s STS-134 launch.

STS-92 Discovery Ferry Flight Leaving Dryden

This 45 second movie clip shows the 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft with Discovery attached rolling down the runway, lifting off, retracting its gear, and climbing out. During 1977 the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards, California, hosted the Approach and Landing Tests for the space shuttle prototype Enterprise. Since the shuttles would land initially on Rogers Dry Lakebed adjacent to Dryden on Edwards Air Force Base, NASA had already modified a Boeing 747 to carry them back to their launch site at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Computer calculations and simulations had predicted the mated shuttle and 747 could fly together safely, but NASA wanted to verify that prediction in a controlled flight-test environment before the shuttles went into operation. The agency also wanted to glide test the orbiter to ensure it could land safely before sending it into space with human beings aboard. NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas, developed a three-phase test program. First, an unpiloted-captive phase tested the shuttle/747 combination without a crew on the Enterprise in case of a problem that required jettisoning the prototype. There were three taxi tests and five flight tests without a crew in the shuttle. That phase ended on March 2, 1977. The second or captive-active phase-completed on July 26, 1977, flew the orbiter mated to the 747 with a two-person crew inside. Finally there were five flights-completed on October 26, 1977, in which the orbiter separated from

Characters in flight

Characters in flight is the newest (only) ride at Downtown Disney. The ride, the worlds largest tethered gas balloon, is operated by Aérophile SA, a company headquarted in Paris France. It is a simple ride, it goes up, hovers for about 10 to 15 minutes and then comes down. You get to see a 360 degree view of DisneyWorld. The video is the balloon coming down. The wind caught it. No one was hurt, but the ride must have been memorable. We got to the balloon about 30 minutes after this video was taken. The ride was closed due to the weather. We had to wait until later that night to ride the balloon. See more Disney photos at jayssuccessfulimages.blogspot.com
