What is the best deluxe resort for a family with a 5 and 2 1/2 year old and two sets of grandparents?

We have no restriction on level of hotel and want to make this a great experience for all, but mostly for our kids. This is our first family vacation to Disney Land. Our kids love the pool and jungle gyms. Our son still takes naps, which may be important. View of fireworks from the hotel would also be a plus. We have been looking at Saratoga, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Fort Wilderness and Animal Kingdom so far.

Please help us with some info.

Should I go with the regular Disney world dining plan or the Deluxe Dining plan?

My family (2 adults and 2 boys ages 7 & 9) are about to book our first vacation and we have picked Disney world! We don’t really have the biggest budget and need to get the most for our money. We went through our AAA agent and have yet to put deposit down on the following:

Animal Kindom Lodge pool view room, 6 base tickets w/ water park &more, regular dining plan (20 sit down dinners, quick meals, & snacks)& the flight which gets in on July 7th at noon and leaves the 12th at 5:30. The package is costing us 4,300 with vacation ins. Is this good?

We plan on 3 character meals (1 sit down dinner ea) and 2 dinner shows (def. ohana show maybe another both cost 2 dinners ea). If we do both shows we will run out of sit down dinners on the first one, as we will have only 20 meals.

We have 5 days of meal plan but 6 days to eat and may run out. Is it worth the $420 upgrade to the deluxe meal plan if we pay for 1 show & extra food? Any general suggestions for 1st timer or MUST DO’S? THX.

Which Disney World deluxe resort is best for young children (ages 8 and 4)?

We will be going there late next December.

This what I’ve learned so far from other answers (I have never visited any of these resorts before). Possible best choices:

- Polynesian (because of nice appearance and Peter Pan babysitting club and beach. Also convenient to monorail?

- Contemporary, only if main building with view of Magic Kingdom, because of monorail (but someone said the building is a little older looking than the other resorts).

- Animal Kingdom, if a view of the savannah

- Wilderness lodge — great pool?

We’re only staying a few days so we just want to maximize fun for our kids and whole family. Thanks!
