Blue Sky Cellar construction update @ Disneyland DCA Disney California Adventure

Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar opened October 20, 2008, replacing the old Seasons of the Vine Theater at Disney’s California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The exhibit is a preview center intended to promote upcoming attractions coming to the park, such as the The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Adventure dark ride, Silly Symphony Swings, Goofy’s Sky School roller coaster, the Disney’s World of Color water show, Buena Vista Street and the Cars Land themed areas. A preview film can be viewed in the Blue Sky Cellar, that features Imagineers talking about the upcoming attractions. The film will be updated as the progress of construction continues.

California Science Center Selected to Receive Space Shuttle Endeavour

NASA Administrator General Charles Bolden announced today that the California Science Center is one of four institutions chosen to receive a Space Shuttle Orbiter for permanent display. The announcement came during a ceremony at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida marking the 30th anniversary of the first space shuttle launch. “We are thrilled with the distinguished honor of being awarded the flown Space Shuttle Orbiter Endeavour. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to NASA Administrator General Bolden and all of those at NASA who have demonstrated their confidence in the California Science Center and recognize the importance of returning the Endeavour to its home in California,” notes Science Center President Jeffrey N. Rudolph. “The Endeavour will provide an educational platform for the public to celebrate California’s long time leadership in science, technology, mathematics and engineering. Disney’s Electrical Parade (formerly Main Street Electrical Parade) makes its way through Disney’s California Adventure on March 22, 2010 in the Disneyland Resort. Disney’s Electric Parade original debuted on June 17, 1972 as the Main Street Electrical Parade in Disneyland. This began a 24 year history of the parade before it was retired from the Disneyland Resort in 1996. In 2001, it returned to the Disneyland Resort, this time in Disney’s California Adventure. It’s run at the Disneyland Resort will end this time on April 18, 2010 before it moves to the Walt Disney World Resort where it will again be called the Main Street Electrical Parade when it makes its way through the Magic Kingdom.
