Disney Vacation Club Points?
I read somewhere that if you book your first night in a lower season, the price stays at that rate even if over the duration of your trip the point values go up. Is this true?

This is not true. We have been DVC owners for five years now and have never come across anything like you are describing. Point values follow, not only the seasons, but weekdays verses weekends. Point values for Friday and Saturday nights are more than twice as high than Mondays thru Thursdays for the same accommodations.
No, you will pay the nightly point rate for each night, which will vary.
BUT, the points that were in place when you signed up will never change. so in 5 years when a new person will spend say 50 points a night , you will still only pay 40, etc.
