Visit us on the web at 6StarReviews.com. As those lazy days of summer slowly arrive, many people begin thinking about where they’d like to go for their next vacation. Some think big like trekking through the African desert on a 10-day safari. Others can skip the sun and sand, preferring a quiet getaway to a spa in Napa Valley.

Wherever your heart fancies a trip or weekend rendezvous to, there are many online travel agencies that make the planning stages of your vacation that much easier. Sure, you can still visit your traditional travel agency in the neighborhood strip mall. However, Internet agencies offer many more perks in your search for the perfect vacation experience.

Consider these benefits of booking a trip online:

  •	You can search, compare and book travel destinations right at your desk.

  •	Many Internet travel agencies offer online specials you cannot find anywhere else.

•	Most sites offer discounted travel packages including hotel, rental car and even flight.

•	Most travel sites offer 360-degree virtual tours of rooms and resorts.

•	You can choose to be billed online and actually print your reservation in seconds.

   •	Some sites like Orbitz offer low-price-guarantees. This means that if Expedia has a lower deal on the Marriot room in Manhattan you have your eye on, they will match the price or give you difference.

•	The extensive database of flights and hotels make traditional trip-booking pale in comparison.

•	Many online travel sites subscribe customers up for free special offer email lists

•	Depending on where you’re vacationing, most travel sites will help you customize your vacation. Going to Orlando? These sites will offer you tickets for Disney, Universal, water parks and other local attractions.

Nothing beats booking your much-needed vacation from the convenience of your own computer. However, sometimes it’s hard to know where to go or what hotel to stay at for the duration of your visit.

6StarReviews.com is a site we found that compares online travel agencies to make your reservation-booking-process painless and even, cough, fun. By the way, if you need any help booking that Caribbean package, most travel sites have 24 hour customer support lines. We don’t think your corner travel agency offers this perk.

Sometimes when we are traveling on business, it is easy to let costs get out of control. But if you are working from a per diem or have other constraints on your travel budget, you should learn some cost cutting methods that you can put into effect that won’t make your life miserable on the road.

These cost-cutting ideas are not just to stay out of trouble with the budget people back at the home office. Often businesses have a set budget for business travel and once it is gone, no further trips can be made during that budget year. So if you anticipate the need for more business trips in the months ahead, it is prudent to keep an eye on costs as you go so you can conserve that limited budget to facilitate important trips yet to come.

Economizing on the road can be difficult because you are put right in the middle of the hospitality industry which, while good at making you feel comfortable and providing for your needs, hotels and restaurants are also good at running up your tab. But there are some easy ways to sidestep a lot of unnecessary spending so you can stretch your business travel budget – Here are a few.

* Eat before you go. Airport restaurants or snack bars are notoriously overpriced. So even if you are leaving early in the morning, have breakfast and get well satisfied before leaving home so you don’t have to buy food en route.

* Wise packing. Think through your life in the hotel and on the road. You can buy travel sizes of almost everything you will need. Moreover, you can pack some light and easy to carry snacks such as trail mix, candy bars or nuts that can be used to hold you over during the trip until you can get a good meal. By being self-dependent during the trip, you save a lot by not using airport services.

* A hotel is just a bed, a shower and a TV. When booking your accommodations, think about where you should stay. If you don’t need a luxury hotel, don’t book one. If you are just staying the night in one place and then moving on, a clean, well run motel can take care of you just as well as the executive suite at a luxury hotel.

* Share that ride. If you are traveling as a party, or you are meeting business partners at the destination, you can share cabs or rental vehicles and save business costs as well as conserve on burning fossil fuels unnecessarily.

* Markets and delis. You can even eat economically in a big town like New York or Orlando by using the same sense you have at home. By taking an early trip to a nearby grocery store, you can stock your room with fruits and travel foods and cut down on the amount of meals you have to eat out.

* Public transportation. If the town you’re traveling to has safe and workable subways or other public transpiration, that can be much more efficient for you than renting a car. Washington DC for example has outstanding rail transport that you can use rather than rent a car.

By using the same good common sense you execute at home to keep expenses under control, you can not only live inexpensively on the road, you can actually live better. And by not allowing yourself to be overcharged for some very basic goods and services, you will feel better about your business outing and become known in your company as a smart traveler.

There’s predominantly bad news for travelers intending to fly on business or on vacation this summer, according to a recent article appearing in U.S. News & World Report. Not only has the number of delayed flights risen, but so, too, have the number of passengers impacted per plane. For some, the news was worse than for others. Evaluating major airports using a combination of the percentage of flights delayed and the average load of departing aircraft, the U.S. News article branded Detroit’s Wayne County Airport as the nations “most miserable airport”.

Official Department of Transportation numbers paint a frustrating picture for Motown’s frequent fliers. Thirty-nine percent of flights at Detroit leave the tarmac late. Combined with an average load factor of just under seventy-seven percent – meaning that passenger flights leaving Detroit are nearly 77 percent full – Detroit’s airport offers the most misery to the largest number of people when flights are delayed.

Because I live near Detroit and make the occasional business trip to nearby Chicago or Cleveland, these figures got me thinking about the advantages – if any – of traveling by car to these destinations. With the help of some other tips in the article, it was quite easy for me to price and then compare the cost of driving and flying to each of these cities.

Step One in the process was to pay a visit to fuelcostcalculator.com.

Maintained by the American Automobile Association (AAA), this website asks you to supply your departure point and final destination along with the make, model and year of manufacture of your car. Using MPG estimates for your particular vehicle and the average gas price for your neck of the woods, AAA’s fuel cost calculator rapidly calculates the overall distance, the amount of fuel required and cost of that fuel for a typical drive from let’s say – Detroit to Chicago. In my case, I learned that I could expect to consume 10.58 gallons of gas for the 275-mile drive to the Windy City at an approximate fuel cost at just over 33 dollars (33.23). The calculator likewise computed the round-trip cost of the drive, in this case, 66.46.

To find out how this would compare to flying, I next visited sidestep.com.

Sidestep appeals to me because it searches hundreds of airline and discounted fare websites for the best deal and then lets me book directly with the airline company instead of using a go-between like Orbitz, Travelocity or Expedia. Dealing with the airline directly instead of through a third-party ticket broker, makes it easier and possibly less expensive if there are additional fees to change my flight if necessary.

While at sidestep.com, I found an American Airlines non-stop flight that would whisk me from Detroit to Chicago on a Tuesday and return me the following Thursday at a total round-trip cost of 119.00 dollars. Not a bad price by any means, but still approximately twice the cost of traveling by car. And the price didn’t factor in the cost of airport parking or any additional airport charges or taxes.

Since driving is a pleasure for me, the decision to drive to Chicago on my next business trip was an easy one. My route takes me right by the Detroit airport anyway and I’d rather spend my time driving through the scenic countryside of Western Michigan than battling long lines and possible delays at the airport. In addition, it’s nice to have a familiar car in Chicago and also gratifying to save on the cost of a rental.

Whether a decision like this adds up for you depends to a large extent on your starting point and ultimate destination. While it’s still marginally less expensive for me to drive from Detroit to Los Angeles than it is to fly, for example, I’d never dream of making this long drive part of a business trip.

It’s generally the shorter trips, on the order of 250 to 450 miles, where driving makes sense. See for yourself by comparing the cost of flying and the cost of driving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Washington, D.C. to Boston, or Miami to Orlando using the tools available at fuelcostcalculator.com and sidestep.com.

A convenient location and wonderful climate makes Florida the ideal destination for a family vacation. Whether it is Miami or another city, getting around the state is easy as rental cars are widely available and reasonably priced as well. Round up the family and hit the beach, take a swim with the dolphins, or get your adrenaline rush on the roller coasters. Whatever your pleasure, Florida can deliver an experience unlike you will find anywhere else.

Beach Scenery

Florida offers 1100 miles of gorgeous beaches, crystal clear waters, and delightful tropical breezes. In the Sunshine State, you can easily find heavily populated beaches with a party atmosphere, or quite beaches perfect for relaxing. Many vacationers are fond of Siesta Public Beach because it has a great environment for kids. Located in sunny Sarasota, this beach offers fine white sand, translucent shallow waters, calm waves, and a well equipped playground. Those who like to collect seashells will be pleased with the findings at Sanibel Island, which boasts well over 400 types of shells. Amelia Island is also a popular spot to visit, boasting 13 miles of island primed for activities such as sunbathing, horseback riding, kayaking, exciting shopping and fine dining. If your family has their heart set on Miami, rest easy because this vibrant city has several great beaches that offer a little something for everyone.

Orlando, Florida is the perfect place for the vacationing family seeking action. Here you will find Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, and the impressive entertainment hub known as Universal Studios. Although Orlando is indeed one of the main attractions, it is only the beginning when it comes to exploring the great state of Florida. The St. Petersburg and Clearwater areas have many exciting attractions the kids are sure to love while the tropical islands of the Florida Keys offer an array of wonderful opportunities for every member of the family. However, you don’t have to visit the Keys for island-style family fun. A comforting cottage on lovely Anna Maria Island would make a nice alternative, or the family can head north to visit the amazing Dinosaur Adventure Land in Pensacola. This phenomenal facility offers a traditional park, museum and science park, each of which has several activities perfectly suited for all members of the family. From botanical gardens to amusement parks, Florida can provide everything for the family looking to have a blast on their vacation.

Planning Your Family Vacation

You can make sure the family enjoys the best vacation possible by planning ahead. The first thing you want to do is figure out where you guys will be traveling to. As you can see, Florida offers many desirable destinations and picking from the bunch can be difficult. After narrowing down your options for vacation spots, do some research to learn more about each destination so you know what the family is in for. You can do this by obtaining a travel guide or simply visiting the official website for that particular destination. Whatever you decide, we think both you and your family will consider your Florida vacation time well spent.

Located in the southern parts of the USA, Florida is a travelers’ paradise. Sun, surf and sand make the Florida cities perfect vacation destination and weekend gateway. Investing in vacation homes has become very common worldwide. So far as the US buyers are concerned, most of them typically choose a beach destination. And the Sun Shine state can offer them just the right combination of exciting outdoor life, proximity to nature, big city funs all in a tropical set up. No wonder, Florida condos are rising in popularity among the buyers from outside the state. Most of these buyers stay in their condo units while vacationing in the state and after that put them in rental program to earn rental income.

With so many second home buyers scurrying after vacation condos, there is no doubt that Florida condos make sound real estate investment. In a state, where most part of the state’s economy is dependent on tourism industry, the vacation condos are sure to give you good returns on your investment. The state is visited by 60 million tourists each year. Miles of white beaches and abundant sun make them return for more. Nowhere else in the USA you would find so many amusement parks and theme parks.

To top them all, there is “The Walt Disney World Resort” that draws millions of travelers from across the globe. Almost all the beach towns in Florida remain filled up with tourists throughout the year, especially during the summer months. Lake Buena Vista, Universal Orlando Resort, Busch Gardens and SeaWorld are some of the other popular theme parks in the state.

Florida Condos can offer space and home like comfort to the tourists. They are less expensive than the five star hotels, yet offer more or less the same range of amenities. In a nutshell, Florida condos are advantageous for both tourist and the owners. On the one hand, the condo units offer an excellent accommodation to the vacationers. On the other hand, a condo unit in a hot tourist destination provides a secure place to stay for the owner. Every time he feels like visiting the place, he only need to buy the plane ticket or get into the car and there is his condo home waiting for him to offer a great time off from stressful daily living.

When you are going to invest in Florida condos and planning to use it as vacation homes, you should take great care in choosing the location. You have two options—either buy units near the attractions of large cities like Tallahassee, Jacksonville or Miami or buy condos in the hot beach destinations. The peninsular state that has the Gulf of Mexico to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, has more beach destinations than anywhere in the USA. In addition to that the state is divided into four large urban areas of which Miami is the largest metropolitan area. There are also many smaller industrial cities and a number of small beach towns. When you buy Florida condos in the thriving districts of the state, you can rest assured of year round rental income. And the unit will be right there for you to enjoy a great tropical escape.

With Florida condos, you can enjoy a great Floridian vacation whenever you want. In addition of providing you a hassle-free vacation home, it will give you a long-term appreciating asset.

Spending most days stuck in traffic in Orlando, undeniably has its aggravations, so when I need a break from cluttered roads, idiotic co-workers and constantly ringing phones, I hop a plane for the flight to Miami International Airport. The minute the sweltering air hits my face my whole attitude changes. Starting the rental car I know that after a little over four hours of driving south there’s a little piece of heaven on earth harkening back to an older, quieter, more beautiful Florida, where the pace is slower, and the highlight of the day is the beautiful sunset or shine off silvery scales of the tarpon jetting through crystal clear waters.

While definitely home to an peculiar mix of good ole southern boys, sixties throwbacks, and people with a firm commitment to styling in fishing vests every day instead of coats and ties or mega jewelry, the Keys have a loose, unpretentious social vibe. While most tourists race their way through the majority of the Florida Keys Islands on the four plus hour drive between the discos of South Beach and the bars of Key West, I enjoy the laid back Islands in between the two.

The road itself, U.S. 1, is one of the best places to relax and drift into the Keys mentality As a primarily two lane marathon of a road, it stretches to the southwest 125 miles over several dozen of tropical islands until it finally comes to mile zero at the point of Key West. From here the visitor can view the Atlantic Ocean to the left, the Florida Gulf of Mexico on the right, and spectacular turquoise seas and luscious vegetation in unforgettable combination.

As you traverse the Card Sound Road, the more beautiful of the two passages from mainland Florida, the most pressing issue should be where to grab a bite to eat. The major compliment of eateries along the Keys are of the Crab Shack vein of architecture— just picture the most run down farm house you have ever seen and drop it on a beach or next to a roadside. However, looks can be deceiving, and here you won’t be upset The plethora of fresh seafood: fried, grilled, jerked, or encrusted, is out of this world. A favorite spot is the Pilot House Restaurant located on Key Largo. As a classic waterfront establishment with an amazing see through deck has a completely outstanding blackened-grouper sandwich, see barracuda swimming like a Mafioso beneath your feet. The waitress tells me a mother and baby manatee were spotted a few days earlier.

Islamorada, a town occupying several separate islands just about halfway to Key West, makes a perfect central base camp. Rentals offer many of private pools, docks and near beach locations to help enjoy the Keys atmosphere with all the amenities of home: laid-back, unfussy, and all about enjoying the outdoors. Including scuba, snorkeling, windsurfing and swimming in unspoiled waters.

The Florida Keys, a string of unique islands, which was once accessible only by boat, are now connected by over 40 bridges, providing a destination for families seeking a Caribbean island getaway without leaving the United States. With a beachfront always within a short distance, travelers can enjoy snorkeling, diving, windsurfing, boating, fishing and other water sports from all points in the Keys. The largest hardship might well be allowing the variety of activities for all travelers in your party. The beauty of a vacation rental is that with a central base on Key Cudjoe or any of the other Florida Keys you can meet all those needs and have the room to stretch out and relax.

The Florida Keys provide the ideal setting for a relaxing and tropical setting for whatever your group wants from their next summer vacation.

The Sunshine State is one of the world’s biggest getaway locations for a lot of reasons. Pristine beaches, excellent food, outdoor adventures and world-class amusement parks combine to make a Florida vacation one-of-a-kind. But for those who want to enjoy it all and save a little money and perhaps planning time, too, nothing compares to Florida vacation packages.

No matter the desired destination, Florida has a lot to see. From the historic roots of St. Augustine and the beach fun of Fort Lauderdale to the high-class shopping of Coconut Grove and the night life of Miami, there’s so much to see and do, one trip can’t cover it all. Trying to plan the perfect trek can be nearly impossible. But for those who take advantage of vacation package offers, a lot of the “little details” that can bog down vacation fun melt away.

Vacation packages can range from simple offers that combine hotel accommodations and airfare to elaborate undertakings that cover everything from meals and amusement park tickets to hotel accommodations and even live entertainment. Tours are sometimes even included or at least offered as optional buy ups along with rental cars and more.

For those heading to Florida for vacation, the rental car is almost a must. Unlike many other tourist areas, Florida doesn’t have a lot of public transportation. And even so, there’s so much to see and do, to not have a car could cut out some fantastic and affordable side trips.

Here are some of the highlights of different parts of the Sunshine State:

North Florida, Panhandle: The beaches of Destin are famous for their pristine quality. This area is known for its laid-back Florida style and warm Southern hospitality. Nearby visitors will find the state capital of Tallahassee and even Jacksonville within a fairly short driving distance. The great outdoors is key here with fishing, swimming, sailing and more all on tap.

East Coast – The East Coast of Florida is famous for its surfing beaches heralded for their Spring Break activity. From Fort Lauderdale to Daytona, the swim and surf fun is incredible. Here visitors will also find the ancient city of St. Augustine with its fort, oldest schoolhouse and more.

South Florida – Miami, Coral Gables, the keys and beyond are all major attractions here.

Central/West Florida – From Tampa and St. Petersburg to Orlando, this is the amusement park corridor. Disney, Busch Gardens, Universal, Sea World and Adventure Island are all found in this part of the state as is great shopping and museum hopping in St. Pete and Sarasota.

Outdoors types revel in Florida’s many options. From hiking and biking to hunting, fishing and camping, the state is jam packed with outdoor areas to explore. The Everglades are spectacular as are the wooded areas in the Ocala National Forest.

Seeing all Florida has to offer in a single trip is nearly impossible, but well-created packages can go a long way toward helping vacationers achieve their goals while taking the details of planning off their shoulders.
